What KnowGence Is

KnowGence is a proprietary AI governance diagnostic platform. It exists to answer a single question that most organizations cannot answer with confidence: are you structurally capable of governing your AI systems?

The platform turns the Bounded Agency framework into two things: an indicative diagnostic, the BAL Score™, that shows where to look, and an evidence-based assessment that tests whether the controls behind it work, so organizations can track their AI governance capacity with the rigor applied to credit risk or operational resilience.

The Framework

Bounded agency is the state in which AI acts autonomously, but only within limits people set and can enforce in time to matter, so that human agency is preserved. The Bounded Agency framework defines the six conditions that state requires, and how to measure whether they hold. It underpins the BAL Score™, and the foundational research is available on SSRN.

Independence

KnowGence is vendor-neutral. The KnowGence Research Foundation, a separate organization, conducts research on preserving human agency as decisions are delegated to AI.
